Iceland is one of Onward Travel’s favorite places on the planet and we have been there many times to explore this dynamic and exciting destination with our travel groups, but this will be our first trip in the summertime! Over the years we’ve established a robust network of local partners and friends and an understanding of and appreciation for Icelandic culture. Iceland is like nowhere else on earth and we can’t wait to show it to you.
Reykjavík is a charming capital city, perfect for strolling and full of great eateries and fabulous shopping. We will immerse ourselves in the city and its surrounds as we learn about the history of the country from the vikings through the present day; taste classic dishes, modern Icelandic cuisine, and greenhouse grown tomatoes; gain an understanding of geothermal energy and how it enables Icelandic society to flourish; soak in multiple geothermal pools (the best!); and so much more.
To round out our week, we will spend a night at the elegant Hotel Buðir, a destination in its own right for its gourmet reputation and scenic setting on the breathtaking Snæfellsnes Peninsula. We hope you can join us to experience this amazing country, lush in August with green moss and late summer wildflowers.
